Job opportunities in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Lombok are wide open. This was conveyed by the Head of the West Nusa Tenggara Manpower and Transmigration Office, Wismaningsih Drajadiah. “We will help prepare human resources as workers at SEZ Mandalika during the Moto GP event,” she said.
She said that mapping data from the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), including the required qualifications, had been received, it was only a matter of preparing the recruitment mechanism. The plan is for the absorption of local workforce in West Nusa Tenggara for ITDC by 69 percent, 30 percent from outside the province, and the remaining one percent are foreign workers.
“Are we ready to prepare 69 percent of the workforce? that is our focus at this time to overcome unemployment,” she said.
“Hopefully we can still pursue the 2020 budget for training and various other preparatory steps,” she continued.
Most of the workforce needs come from the industrial sector. Starting from hotels, restaurants, to workers on the circuit. “This will be the biggest homework at this time,” she added.
Revival of the West Nusa Tenggara tourism business
On a separate occasion, the Chairman of the Regional Representative Council of the West Nusa Tenggara Association of the Indonesia Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA), Dewantoro Umbu Joka, stated that ASITA will immediately make tour packages if there is confirmation on the fixed MotoGP schedule. “If the date is fixed, we will urge all members to make attractive tour packages. This is a turning point in the revival of the West Nusa Tenggara tourism business, “he said.
Dewantoro said that the tourism packages offered include watching MotoGP events and traveling for several days. “We hope they will not only enjoy the holidays on the D day (MotoGP event). But also before and after. We give the best service, “he said excitedly.
Let’s wait together for the preparations made by the local government and other private sector for the success of the MotoGP as well as improving the economy of the communities.
