Rp1.2 Trillion for the By Pass Project from Lombok International Airport (LIA) to Mandalika
The Central Government through the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing has prepared a budget of Rp1.2 trillion for the construction of the Lombok International Airport (LIA) pass project – the Mandalika Special Economic Zone. Such a budget will also be used for land acquisition along the 17 Km.
’’ It is more or less Rp 1.2 trillion (the funds for land acquisition and construction), ’said the Head of the Public Works and Public Housing Office of West Nusa Tenggara, Ir. Wedha Magma Ardhi, M.TP, last March 19, 2019.
Ardhi explained that the by-pass road construction project LIA-KEK Mandalika had been discussed at the Development Technical Coordination Meeting in Balikpapan recently.
The meeting was attended by officials from the National Development Planning Agency, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing and Directorate General of Regional Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
“Alhamdulillah, we have discussed the construction of the road by pass LIA-Mandalika in the meeting in Balikpapan,” he said.
Regarding the construction of the LIA-Mandalika by-pass road to support the readiness of West Nusa Tenggara as the host of the 2021 MotoGP, the Governor, Dr. H. Zulkieflimansyah, SE, M.Sc, has written to the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono. The Minister signaled the problem of land acquisition which had been a constraint to the construction of road access from the airport to the location of the Mandalika circuit which would be borne through the National Development Budget funds.
’’The Minister has given a signal, the National Development Budget will be used to free land and its construction,’ ‘said Regional Head of Highways, Public Works and Public Housing, Ir. H. Syahdan, MM.
In connection with the acceleration of the construction of 17 km of road access from LIA to Mandalika, the Public Works and Public Housing Agency invited a number of related parties to discuss the matter on 18 March. Parties invited include the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, the Tourism Office, the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation and the Central Lombok District Government.
Construction of the LIA-Mandalika road by pass is quite crucial, because there is no adequate road access for MotoGP needs from the airport to the location of the MotoGP in Mandalika.
At present there is a road from LIA-Mandalika. But what is feared is when the audience or visitors who will watch the MotoGP event when they go round. Then the existing road segments can be crowded.
‘For that we will immediately complete the LIA-Mandalika road, of which the two four-lane lines are 17 Km long. This is what we will discuss, ‘said Syahdan.
LIA-Mandalika’s development by pass has been hampered by land acquisition problems. The central government asked Central Lombok provinces and districts to free land. While for road construction, the central government will bear it.
Many meetings have been hold between the Provincial Government and the Regency Government of Loteng, but there was no agreement on the land acquisition scheme. Thus, the Governor submitted a letter to the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing to request land acquisition to be done by the central government.
The local government is unable to free land for the construction of the road because the regional budget is very limited. Not to mention West Nusa Tenggara has just been hit by an earthquake.
In 2019, work will focus on land acquisition. Then in 2020, construction must begin. Because, in 2021, the MotoGP race should have begun in Mandalika.
The budget needed for the acquisition of an area of 87 hectares for LIA-Mandalika’s pass development is around Rp 200 billion. It is planned that the road will be built in two lanes and four lanes.
